Chapter 2. Combat. How to KILL a zombie. Figure A. 1. Aim for the head. 2. DON'T miss.

Combating zombies successfully is not just a manner of getting the biggest and best guns around and going out to “kick some ass”. This is foolish and will often result in getting yourself and others killed.

Careful choice of your weapons and their use must be considered and their range taken into account. A flaming zombie at close range is more dangerous than if it wasn't, and a gernade at close rage with hordes moving in is no more useful than a blunt weapon.

The number one rule to note is that zombies are only killed by destroying their brain matter (Fig. A). A zombie's head, removed from it's body is still a dangerous thing, until its brain is destroyed. Here are a list of general rules to combat zombies:

  1. Uphold the Law: The use of weapons in their respective situations are to be upheld and known about, but also being a model citizen in a world gone lawless will have people look up to you and authorities treat you with respect and to left alone.

  2. Train Constantly: No matter what weapon you choose, becoming proficient in it's use is a matter of life and death. A well trained, confident and experienced person with a rock is more effective than a novice with a gun.

  3. Care for Your Tools: Know your weapon of choice inside and out, in light and in complete darkness. Take care of your weapons and avoid unnecessary damage to them. The most powerful assult rifle is nothing, but a club if it jams.

  4. Beware Display Items: Be warry of replica weapons used for display, they will break in half in a real life or death situation. Always test weapons to the breaking point to make sure they are acceptable.

  5. Develop the First Weapon: Your body is the first and last line of defense. You should keep it in peak physical condition and maintain your health constantly. Learn at least one martial art with an emphasis on getting out of holds, so that you can quickly get out of the clutches of a zombie.
3. On the defense 4. On the run 5. On the Attack
